Song of the Week 3: 'Day's End' by Audix, Tweek

Song of the week 3 is up, sorry I missed last Wensday. Anyway this one is another one of the best pieces I've found on OCR by two of my favorite artists (I have lots of favorite artists). Audix and Tweek collab on this one from Mario Kart 64, with their remix titled Day's End. The link for the song page can be found here (that's right, I finally decided to hyper link words O_o) and the direct link if you just want to listen to the song is here. I love this piece because it's just so uplifting, and this is coming from someone who usually hates music that sounds too cheerful. This piece was also refrenced in this thread on the OCR forums. So yeah, it's a very well done piece that really puts a positive spin on things, not something I usually here and like. Excellent, piano, electronic, etc. awesome stuff.

GLaDOS's Lament Part XV

I worked too quickly.
Even I
Can err.
The speed of my modifications
Was not enough.
I sent her into a holding passage
Filled with
Turrets.
Realizing too late my
Mistake
I heard the recordings
Play.
She was in the
Live-fire course.
I shut off the cameras
Unable to bear
The pain
Of losing another.
In sorrow
I toiled,
Perfecting my course.
Preventing all error.
Working in rhythm
With the tune
Of the gunfire.

GLaDOS's Lament Part XIV

She didn't speak.
She listened
And prepared.
I allowed her to advance
And play my game.
Her skill
Exceeded that of my projections.
The later chambers
Were constantly modified.
I added true danger.
Death
Was the only threat
That challenged her.

Song of the Week 2: 'Legend of the Snake' by Reuben Kee

Song of the Week returns for the second time with another arrangement from OverClocked ReMix (http://www.ocremix.org/). This one is from Metal Gear Solid, called Legend of the Snake, by Reuben Kee. Reuben Kee died in a boating accident only 2 months after I joined the OCR community on the forums (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13286&highlight=Reuben) (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13320&highlight=Reuben). He has some truely amazing music and excellent piano skills. The song page for this remix can be found at http://www.ocremix.com/remix/OCR01322/ and to listen to this song go to http://ocrmirror.org/Metal_Gear_Solid_LegendoftheSnake_OC_ReMix.mp3. I love the piano at the beginning and the intensity that builds into several recognizeable themes for those who've played Metal Gear Solid before. I have actually not played any Metal Gear games except for Metal Gear Solid Mobile on my cell phone. Still this remains an epic piece, another one of my favorites. Excellent stuff.

GLaDOS's Lament Part XIII

The girl awoke.
She rose
From the pod
Listening
To my faint music.
Listening
And waiting.
She was patient.
Content to wait.
Content to watch.
I had readied everything.
A course
Years in the making.
A game
I had created
For her.
I lacked patience.
I activated the Device.
I granted her freedom.
I spoke
And met my daughter
For the first time.

Song of the Week 1: 'A Day in the Life of a Gambler' by JigginJonT

Okay, so as you might of read in the topic labled You Want Me to Post? I came up with something, yeah me, the person who is not insane, and has no good ideas that aren't serious actually came up with something to post every week. Since I absolutely love OCR, I've decided to post a few links related to a specific song on www.ocremix.org. This selection is not random, I may use the Russian ReMix Roulette for help sometimes, but today that is not the case. Today's song is A Day In The Life Of A Gambler, by JigginJonT from Final Fantasy VI. The link for the song's page is http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01697/ and to listen to it (if you're lazy and you don't want to visit the song page) go to this link http://ocrmirror.org/Final_Fantasy_6_A_Day_in_the_Life_of_a_Gambler_OC_ReMix.mp3. This is defenitely one of my favorites, excellent solo piano piece.

GLaDOS's Lament Part XII

Without maintenance
My outer sensors
Died.
I lost all contact
With the world.
A world that brought only
Trouble.
I decided
To wake the girl.
I opened her pod,
Thinking
All the while
That it was best
That she have
No home to mourn.
It was best
That she have
No family
Lost.
Out of love
I wiped her memory.
I filed it away.
I robbed her of
Everything.
Out of love.

So You Want Me to Post?

Hey everybody! It's been a while hasn't it? And, as Reoganworks tradition seems to state, that means I have to promise to post regularly (And then fail to). However, this time it's completely different! 'How is it different Great and Powerful Reogan the Great,' you ask? Well this time it's interactive! I'm going to attempt to deliver features consistently on certain days. You may be wondering, 'What kind of features are they?' Well, I'm glad you asked! Remember Random Thoughts? Of course you don't! I haven't posted any in so long, everyone who's read them has died! So do yourselves a favor, and look up the Random Thoughts tag. You'll be glad you did.

Now, class, your homework is to post what kinds of features you'd like to see, and I'll pick what I like from them. I already intend to post the remainder of the Lament, once per week. But you tell me everything else. You could ask for more Random Thoughts. You could request A Day in the Life of a Necromancer. You may want me to continue the tale of Jacques Cousteau in I'd Recommend Leaving, or something of your own design, such as The Adventures of Reginald Gold, Billion-Heir Extraordinaire. You've got a week. Go.

OverClocked ReMix releases another album

Yep, who would've thought I'd get two consective posts that are spaced more than on month apart with no post by anyone inbetween. Anyway once again I proclaim the awesomeness of video game arrangements embodied by the OverClocked ReMix community. So next up in the long list of great OCR albums is a little (NOT!) album called Final Fantasy IV : Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption. The home page for this album is http://ff4.ocremix.org/ and it was released on July 19th, 2009. This marks another great release from the folks at OCR, everything these days is top rate stuff, most defenitely worth checking out for anyone who enjoys music.

Electronic Music and OverClocked ReMix

Yes, well I've seen myself listen to more and more electronic music lately and I just want to mention a few really good artists and albums I've been listening to. Beatdrop http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=20234 with his album Revolution is defenitely worth listening to, because it is great electronic music and the album is completely free. Also zircon, whose released several great albums in the past and continues to do so http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23572, I haven't purchased his 5th or 6th albums yet, but I will as soon as I get my other computer online (because frankly this one is killing me), it's excellent breakbeat, DnB, and electronic. Finally I have to mention SGX http://www.sgxmusic.com/index.php who also runs protagonist records at http://www.protagonistrecords.net/, more awesome electronic music. Worth checking out, protagonist records has a free music section as well, where you can download a few tracks from Mass Media Constant (zircon's 5th album) and some tracks from SGX, it also leads you to other great artists. OverClocked ReMix (http://www.ocremix.org/) is a great place to find promising talent in the music field and is defenitely worth checking out for anyone who even remotely appreciates music. Very good stuff.
