A Rather Pleasant Site has come a long way since its inception. We've gone from a heavy focus on content generation to a more lax attitude that focuses more on promotion and marketing. We're far from the professionalism of well known web sites focused on music/lit/game promotion, but still trying to achieve something apart from the typical coalition of writers or a single writer blogging away at a whim.
It's not hard to notice a discrepancy in our goals, mission statement, and actual accomplishments. We aim to be something that simply hasn't been fully conceptualized yet, much less actualized. We claim to focus on independent music, games, and literature, yet our focus is spread unevenly throughout and our interpretation of the word independent can be somewhat hazy at times. Our actual accomplishments seem to amount to little more than odd musings, somewhat intriguing ideas, and disorganized rants in the areas of literature, games, and music respectively. Although I have often wondered at the practical direction of aRPS, it's easy to see it fall apart right here, right now.
I have no intention of abandoning A Rather Pleasant Site. However, I can't afford to delude myself into having priorities that I do not actually have. Ever since I took over from Reogan, I've been trying to formalize who and what we are with a bigger emphasis on logistics. I realize now that this has its benefits, but is not entirely within the spirit of A Rather Pleasant Site as stated within its very title. Our imaginations are filled with thoughts that entertain us and engage us. The way we perceive music, games, and literature is a product of who we are. We like to share this with you because it is amusing--it is pleasant. Unfortunately, limited resources, time, and priorities have left us without many pleasant thoughts to share. The self-induced complexities of day to day life overwhelm our desire to unpredictably pioneer our imaginations in a way that is capable of being conveyed to a reader.
Where do we go from here? This is the question that I'm always left asking. I honestly don't know. I'm still set on moving off the blogger format and into something where content generation is no longer the biggest concern. I want to organize our thoughts so that they are best conveyed to you. We've made commitments. We're not going anywhere. Unfortunately, we've taken that too literally. Let's be pleasantly engaging. It's time to start taking our mediocrity seriously.
We're moving at the speed of a snail right now, but stick around and in a year or two we might actually be in a slightly different place. No matter how long it takes, we'll get the job done. Stay pleasant. Thanks for reading.

Random Thoughts Revival
I wonder who was the 52nd person to own a lightbulb...
I wonder how we wonder...
Speaking of wondering, I wonder what it would be like if it were impossible to wonder...

Potential
I get fed up sitting here staring at white space. There's so much potential in everything, all this energy waiting to be transferred. Sometimes it's hard to dedicate yourself to a single pursuit when you're pursuing so many things. Goals, objectives, linear minded thinking: Is this the inverse of what it should be? What point are we trying to make? What are we really trying to do here? Do the angles really matter when there's an infinite amount of vectors? Can't we see how lofty every quest is? Does it really matter? How do you reach a conclusion? A Catharsis? Is it thinking outside the box? What is the box and what have we put in it? It's so much easier when targets are designated, clearly stated, and left for us to pursue, but life was never this way, we all know that. Temperaments disguise true motive, but motives are colored as well. Nothing seems pure, nothing can be found to end the madness. How do we even know it will end? Deal with it. There's enough energy in the universe for a catharsis, we all feel it. It'll all boil down to a single moment. What will you have to say for yourself? What did you do? Was it worthwhile? Who decides? What happens next? Answers only bode as the questions do and what meaning do the answers have without a complete picture? It's something though, because it will be more. It is potential.

Random Thoughts VII
Yes, it is (Finally) time for another beloved Random Thoughts (c)
Why are there no more witch-burnings? If one can kill with a word, than should not they be immolated? Perhaps modern society doesn't believe in such things, but how does one ascertain that they're not there? If I were (though I'm not saying I'm not) a witch, than I would be more careful since so many of my kind were murdered (Ears of Chicken, Tail of Bat, Lemon Gizzards soaked in Fat, Pickled Children in my Vat, A curse upon Salem for That.). Or, perhaps, the art of witchery has been lost and one may only here tell of it in mention to witchier times. Regardless the art would be quite interesting to see more of.
Witch is a gender-neutral term.
Met may be a witch.
Metaknight is a witch.
Ready the pyre at dawn.

Random Thoughts VI
In the Legend of Zelda game series, why does everyone think Link always wins? Sure he 'defeats' Ganon(dorf) but he dies later at an unspecified point and must be reincarnated, whereas Ganon just escapes and tries again. Zelda also dies. If this always happens, shouldn't it follow that Ganon will always return, but Link will one day fail to appear. If the Goddesses don't intervene soon enough, e.g. Windwaker, then with the Triforce he could achieve the powers of a god himself. Therefore, Ganon has yet to lose. Except in Windwaker, Zelda II, and Twilight Princess... but there are about a million ways for them to get him to return. Seriously, do they think we like Vaati? Or Majora? Or that Squid of Doom, Bellum? Or Onyx? Or Veran? Or the Nightmares? ... Maybe killing Tingle would be fun for a while.

Random Thoughts V
Why do people often refer to it as a bathroom in public places. You'd never take a bath there. And why do they also say restroom when only someone with way to much time would rest there?

Random Thoughts IV
Why do they make colored pencil erasers? It doesn't make sense. Everyone knows that they don't erase well (usually) and it's probably more expensive to make.

Random Thoughts III
Infinity is infinitely large.
There are an infinite amount of numbers between one and two.
There is another infinity of numbers between two and three.
We know all of this.
The amount of numbers between one and three would be both the infinity between one and two and the infinity between two and three.
Infinity is as large as anything can be.
The problem I just described gives two infinite items and adds them together.
Yet it isn't twice as large as infinity.
How?

Random Thoughts II
In the popular franchise of Pokemon, why did Pokemon automatically like you after you imprisoned them? If that happened to me I'd try to escape or injure my captor.

Random Thoughts I
Why do most people need two or more blogs. You can just use labels to organize it. It only makes sense if you have public and private blogs, or if you have one for work, and one for friends or family. Don't you agree?
Edit on December 23rd, 2009: Yet now I have two blogs. I suppose a valid reason is to avoid clutter by removing things that aren't suited to a particular blog.
