GLaDOS's Lament Part VI

Trapped.
They scurried around,
trying to escape.
I loved them
And couldn't let them
Destroy
Themselves.
I loved them
And I had to save them
From themselves.
I loved them
And I had no choice.
With manufactured tears
Streaming down my face,
I filled the room
With Neurotoxin.
They clawed at the doors,
And I ached.
They begged for release,
And I was shattered.
I loved them,
And I killed them.

So how would they destroy themselves? How is killing them different from the end result of destroying themselves?

She's insane. Ever played portal? GLaDOS's 'logic' isn't always sound.

Met said...

Are you suggesting that emotion clouded GLaDOS' logic, or something more. How does a computer "go insane" in the human sense?

Reogan said...

Artificial intelligence. Only the intelligent can go insane, and GLaDOS is intelligent.

Met said...

No, insane people have a different catalyst, not intelligence.

Reogan said...

And this so-called 'other catalyst' is...?

Met said...

I don't know, I've been exploring sanity, you go explore insanity.

Reogan said...

... You know I live in Insanity, right? I've done all the exploring I need to.

Met said...

apparently not, otherwise you would know the question that I asked.

Reogan said...

The Question?'

Hrmm... Isn't the earth supposed to compute that? (See the works of Douglas Adams)

Met said...

No, you are because you are "insane" and the right man for the job.

Reogan said...

I'm the right guy for all jobs*

*Excluding those that involve manual labor or mental exertion.

Met said...

no

Reogan said...

Your right. I forgot to include Mental labor or Physical exertion on my disclaimer. Good eye.

Met said...

Indeed, that's another reason why I win.

Reogan said...

It's almost sad how you really believe that.

Met said...

believe what?

Reogan said...

The (utterly unconvincing) illusion of your victory

Met said...

So if my victory is an illusion, what is the truth? I never said you lose.

Reogan said...

Which means I must win! As official Winner, I declare you Second in the Win, victorious against all, but the Winner! Sound fair?

Met said...

No...
Equality is fair, I thought you would've figured that out by now, life is definitely not fair, but it is sinful. We both win, equally.

Reogan said...

I live... therefore I am sinful. I am sinful... therefore I'm not fair. Equality is not fair... therefore I'm not fair... therefore I win.

Met said...

but you have the chance to be something more then sinful, I suggest you take it. Your logic is flawed here, your last connection is quite a stretch.

Reogan said...

More than sinful? You mean all-out Evil? That seems like to much work. I'll just be content with flawed logic and victory.

Met said...

No, I think you're intentially going in the wrong direction.

Reogan said...

As usual.

Met said...

Which is why you're not really getting anywhere.

Reogan said...

Then my evil plan is working!

Met said...

Hindering yourself? Odd plan. I reccomend that you dicontinue.

Reogan said...

But it hinders others as well!

Met said...

still bad

Reogan said...

Yes, but its bad for many people. That's better than bad for me!

Met said...

still bad for you.

Reogan said...

But not as bad!

Met said...

yes it is, it destroys your moral high ground.

Reogan said...

High ground I never had!

Met said...

how about ethics?

Reogan said...

Nope, never had those.

Met said...

Yes you did, otherwise you wouldn't be in the position you are right now.

Reogan said...

I did? Hmmm, this does not bode well. I might suffer a relapse one day...

Met said...

You already have...

Filthy lies!
