I'm not very good at poetry...

But I thought I'd try it this week. I don't really have a decent short story written yet, so here's my substitute: a poem lamenting how much I don't like writing poetry! Whoo!

"I'm not having a very good time,
I am sad because of this rhyme.
I'm not good at this.
It's monotonous,
I almost think that it's a crime.

My belief on this is adamant:
This horrid debacle makes me lament.
This awful exercise
Is when my spirit dies
And hardens slowly into cement."

Your meter is off :p

Read the title.

What were you trying for though? Iambs? Trochees? A terrifying antispast-molossus abomination?

I'd actually like to see that last one.

I have no idea what meter I was going for. Poetry is not something I spend any free time studying.

You wrote a poem without a meter? That's really just rhyming prose then. Poetry is poetry because of meter, as I see it. That's why blank verse works.

limericks are the best poetry ever

Reogan said...

No. No they are not.

Also, you failed once again to capitalize or use end punctuation.

Cool, then it's rhyming prose. Whatever. :P

And I agree with Figroth. Limericks ARE the best poems ever.

Reogan said...

No. Epics are. Easily.

Elphaba said...

What about an epic limerick? How awesome would that be?

Reogan said...

Impossible. The best one could do is an epic of limericks.

Elphaba said...

Whatever. It would be awesome!

This wouldn't be half bad for a rap...

Met said...

What? Just an idea...

You know I hate rap for the most part, unless it's OCR style ;)

Reogan said...

That isn't rap. It's a mockery thereof.

Met said...

What's wrong with mocking rap?

Reogan said...

I never said that was bad. I support it.
